2009 has been an eventful year! I chose to review this year before I started planning for the next. After doing so it seemed that I could come up with better plans then the, lose 10 lbs...oh wait I'm pregnant I don't have to worry about that for a bit anyways!
Tim and I celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary and our 5 year anniversary together. It was an amazing year and although people say that getting married can make things trickier it seems to me that it made it so much easier! Sometimes it is just nice having a title to define something that makes us feel more comfortable in it. Hopefully everyone that wants to get married to share their lives and love together will get this opportunity because it really is amazing. I look forward to many, many more years together to learn and grow together.
I graduated from Buena Vistas with my BA in English and Psychology! I love school but I have to admit I was so happy to be done. It was so nice to meet that goal and graduate with honors. I plan on going on for my masters in the next year or two but for right now I'm enjoying reading for enjoyment and focusing on family life and planning for the future without worrying about studying or papers. I am starting to miss it though!
Unfortunately in May I suffered from a miscarriage. Tim and I had started working on having a family in January and after a job change we thought it was finally happening. Unfortunately the baby just was not ready to come into the world yet and we lost it over Memorial Day weekend. It was one of the hardest things Tim and I had to go through together but fortunately I did not suffer from a lot of self blame or shame. We tried to understand that a healthy baby and a baby that was ready for the world would come to us and it was something we had to surrender control of.
In September we found out again that we were pregnant and still have the baby in my tummy today :) We have been lucky enough to pass the milestones of hearing the heartbeat, seeing the little one wiggle on the 1st ultrasound, and now I am feeling it move inside of me as well. I am so greatful to the little human inside of me because I know it is going to push me to be the person I want to be!
Being pregnant is a dream come true but so was having the ability to open my own boutique! Fannie's Closet was opened in August of this year and although it's not a multi million dollar grossing company I am so happy with it! It is really amazing to get to do something you love everyday and something that will work with having a family. I went from working 12 hours a day and seeing my husband 15 mins to getting to have fun for 8-10 hours a day and seeing my husband at night for supper and go to bed at that same time! I never thought those moments would be that important but they sure are.
So that's a brief recap of the major events in my life in 2009. I want to use them to achieve the following goals in 2010:
1) Surrender to that which I cannot control! I love having control and taking the lead but that doesn't work all the time. It drives me nuts when I can't predict the outcome of things but I need to work on realizing that it just isn't possible 100% of the time. This will probably be one of the hardest ones for me to do so it will be a work in progress.
2) Simplify my life! I've started this and want to make sure I continue doing it. Going from 2 incomes to 1 helps in this area. I never thought having less money would be a blessing but it has taught me to decipher between a want and a need.
3) Stop comparing myself to others/become less materialist! This goes along with the above one.
4) Work on becoming the best wife and mother I can be. I learn new things everyday and the work in this area won't stop at the end of 2010 but it's nice to realize it needs to happen and I need to work on it even when I think I'm perfect ;)
I think those 4 will giving me something to work on for the entire year plus some :) I am so ready for the year to come and to see how the new events will change my future! Happy New Years to everyone a little early!

I'll be home for the holidays
So in just a few hours Tim, me, Jolie, Lola and about 5 huge bags of presents will be making our journey up north. We cut back (as many people did) on Christmas presents this year...the first real impact of only have one dependable income instead of 2 and if you know me I love buying presents for everyone! Some how we still ended up with a lot...I can't wait for this time next year when the tree will be stuffed with the baby beans presents as well.
I am 17 weeks along today! It's so amazing to think it's been that long and that I'm almost half way there to having the baby in my arms. Now that I'm feeling it flutter around it's so real and so amazing. I really can't express how excited, scared, happy, joyful I am to finally have the baby I've wanted. On January 11th (strangely this was the due date for our first pregnancy) we will be having the ultrasound to see if we have a little girl or boy. I'm so ready to call them by a name instead of just baby. I've been slipping into the bad habit of saying "she" so maybe that's a sign!
I'm hoping for good weather so everyone that is traveling can do so safely. Hopefully Steph and Bridgette make it to Iowa before the storm and Wednesday is nice so we can all have our (what's went from 3 people to 11 people) dinner!! Tim and I also have a very important question to ask them and it would be really nice to do so in person :)
Off to run last minute errands, load up the car, then wait for Tim to get home so we can start our way!!!
Happy Holidays to everyone :)

Almost Vacation!
Thank you Becky for recommending I set this up :)
Only 1 1/2 more work days until the holiday vacations starts! I am pretty much done with all of the shopping and just have a few more things to wrap up. I am very ready to be headed up north to stay with my parents from Monday night until Sunday afternoon. It will be very strange next year to host the holiday at our house instead of going there but with the new baby new traditions will need to begin :)
In recent happenings:
Timothy got accepted to graduate school from Iowa State in Engineering. Luckily, the courses he needs can all be done online or through distance education! Also a plus...student loans go on hold for a bit more and his company will pay for most of the class expenses. He starts already in January so hopefully he's ready for it...not much time to prepare. He's so talented in his field though I doubt he'll have any problems.
I signed up to volunteer in my first committee at church: Adult Religious Education. I love making up classes and speaking and front of groups so of course they could smell it on me and I got "roped" into doing not one but two already! They tell me they are going to make sure they seize the moment before the baby gets here :)
I will be co-facilitating the first one in February over Non-Violent Communication. I have a book and a work book to get through before then :) I am really excited to do it though and hopefully there will be a good turn out for it. The second one I'll be doing on my own in March or April over one of my favorite books right now: NurtureShock. I'm not entirely sure what I'll be doing yet so cross your fingers for me! Hopefully, I don't wait until the last minute to start putting something together...by then I'll have my big ol' belly though so they will have to pity me if it doesn't go well.
Last night we had Tim's Christmas party for Deere in Rock Island. It was nice to meet all of his coworkers and go out a bit. I do have to say that going to a spouse's holiday party and not knowing anyone is one of the more uncomfortable social situations...it is nice being pregnant though so at least there is some small talk to be had! Overall, it was very nice and fun.
The next few days will be spent relaxing, packing for the trip back home, and hopefully working on the spare-room-soon-to-be-nursery because in January that's our project!
