Thank you Becky for recommending I set this up :)
Only 1 1/2 more work days until the holiday vacations starts! I am pretty much done with all of the shopping and just have a few more things to wrap up. I am very ready to be headed up north to stay with my parents from Monday night until Sunday afternoon. It will be very strange next year to host the holiday at our house instead of going there but with the new baby new traditions will need to begin :)
In recent happenings:
Timothy got accepted to graduate school from Iowa State in Engineering. Luckily, the courses he needs can all be done online or through distance education! Also a plus...student loans go on hold for a bit more and his company will pay for most of the class expenses. He starts already in January so hopefully he's ready for it...not much time to prepare. He's so talented in his field though I doubt he'll have any problems.
I signed up to volunteer in my first committee at church: Adult Religious Education. I love making up classes and speaking and front of groups so of course they could smell it on me and I got "roped" into doing not one but two already! They tell me they are going to make sure they seize the moment before the baby gets here :)
I will be co-facilitating the first one in February over Non-Violent Communication. I have a book and a work book to get through before then :) I am really excited to do it though and hopefully there will be a good turn out for it. The second one I'll be doing on my own in March or April over one of my favorite books right now: NurtureShock. I'm not entirely sure what I'll be doing yet so cross your fingers for me! Hopefully, I don't wait until the last minute to start putting something together...by then I'll have my big ol' belly though so they will have to pity me if it doesn't go well.
Last night we had Tim's Christmas party for Deere in Rock Island. It was nice to meet all of his coworkers and go out a bit. I do have to say that going to a spouse's holiday party and not knowing anyone is one of the more uncomfortable social situations...it is nice being pregnant though so at least there is some small talk to be had! Overall, it was very nice and fun.
The next few days will be spent relaxing, packing for the trip back home, and hopefully working on the spare-room-soon-to-be-nursery because in January that's our project!
do the nursery as soon as possible!! we had to wait until june and i was nesting sooooo badly! it wasnt even totally done because our little surprise came early ;]
ReplyDeletejust wait til you have your baby! any other mom you meet becomes and instant friend! it's so fun to meet new people because you have that one thing in common! and who doesnt like to talk about their baby?!?
what is nurtureshock about?
glad you started a blog too! i got the idea from my cousin brooke (walker) who i just found out is also pregnant and due in june! cant wait to read in-depth about your pregnancy! :D
NurtureShock goes through child development and studies some old data like praising children or how the baby Eisenstein series and if it's effective or not. It goes through a lot of different issues from baby issues to teenage issues and is just really interesting. They have a blog on newsweek too:

It has snippets of the things in the book as well. It's really interesting and sometimes the things seem so "duh" but we just didn't realize it.
